Nexterra's gasification systems are ideally suited to the forest industry because of their design simplicity, reliability, low emissions and low cost. Nexterra supplies and installs complete turnkey energy systems up to 100 MMBtu/hr of thermal heat (steam, hot water, flue gas) and/or 10 MW of electricity. Our gasification systems operate on wood fuels (bark or whitewood) ranging from 20 - 60% moisture content.
In 2006 Nexterra completed commissioning and start-up of a 38MMBtu/hr thermal gasification system for Tolko Industries' Heffley Creek Division plywood mill near Kamloops, BC, Canada. The system has been running successfully for over five years. Learn more. In 2009, Kruger Products installed a Nexterra biomass gasification system, the first of its kind in the pulp and paper industry, at its tissue paper mill in New Westminster, BC. The system converts locally sourced wood waste into clean burning "syngas" that is fired directly into a boiler, in place of natural gas, to produce 14 MWth/hr of steam. Learn more.
