The Province of British Columbia -
Innovative Clean Energy (ICE) Fund
The Innovative Clean Energy Fund was created in 2007 to encourage the development of new sources of clean energy and technologies that help support local economies and livelihoods in communities across British Columbia (BC). The first round of ICE funding, announced in 2008, supported the commercial demonstration of a Nexterra indirect-fired gasification system at the University of Northern British Columbia and a novel Nexterra direct-fired gasification system at the Kruger Products tissue mill in New Westminster. In 2010, the ICE Fund announced support to help the University of BC and its project partners, Nexterra, GE Energy and FP Innovations, commercially demonstrate a biomass-fuelled combined heat and power system for UBC’s Point Grey campus.
